A New and Quirky Fox

Welcome to the online world, Quirky Fox, Art & Design.
Here is a wee store you can access from home with a little click-ity click of your fingers.
They arrived into being in July 2012 and are a small company dedicated to small runs of arty, eco and quirky bits and bobs you might want to fall for.

Their unique idea is to drip feed us with tantalising new products each month to keep things interesting (read; make us keep coming back for more)

If you're looking for some quirky gifts, here are some of my favs...

GENERAL BAGS - CARRIED AWAY SINCE 2012

I have a new friend to introduce you to...
For the past 14 months I have been dedicating myself to a new friendship - It began as an idea to add luxury to eco. I am sure that all those reusable bags out there don't have to be so ugly... nor do they need to be made of plastic based products like polyester or non-woven PET.

I'd like to introduce you to my new friend, General Bags.
I have been having a ball designing a product and creating a new brand that is sexy, eco with strong style for men and women.
I love these bags - they are eco and strong, made from heavy 310gsm 100% Recycled Cotton Canvas with engineered handles that glide seamlessly out of this sturdy bag.
You will not find this bag anywhere else, I have designed it myself and had it manufactured by the cotton specialists in India, they are topped of with a sleek limited edition print to add a touch of spice.

I recommend using your bag to carry away your market shop, swimming and beach clothes, your picnic, knitting, overnight gear and boutique shop.

They make excellent gifts, easy and light to post, but too pretty not to keep one for yourself!
And at $24.95 it's a steal.

To learn more, find a store near you or buy online, visit www.generalbags.co.nz
and because I love you, enter the promotional code 8058 for free shipping until the end of 2012!!!!

I so want a holiday

The Herschel Walton in Khaki/Cobalt and Red/Cobalt makes me want to run away. I love a good weekender (or gym bag for the sporty types).

Sleek and cheerful, the new range of light shades from Cita are affordable and chic. It's a great mid-century design look.
Give it to anyone with a modern home, or a genuine 60's pad.
I first spied these at Arthur Barnett in Dunedin and then online at Iko Iko.

George & Edi are a Wanaka brand just hitting the hottest gift stores now.
All candles are soy based and come wrapped in up-cycled encyclopedia paper. Fragrances range from Grapefruit & Mint, Wild Fig & Cassis, Vanilla & Anise and French Pear.
I bought the Grapefruit & Mint for a friend from Gifted, Wanaka
You can get the rest there or from Whiteroom in Dunedin, who shot the slick image above.

Aspen Cloud Cushion

I'm loving these deliciously pretty clouds from Melbourne outfit Harvest Textiles for mothers everywhere. Handmade with linen outer and recycled PET inners.

Phil CuttanceFACETURE VASE

Oh my, these are unique and beautiful. While not the cheapest gift, they would make a stunning bold statement to that new home owner, or bride and groom. Nothing says congratulations like stunning Kiwi design pieces.

Each vase is handmade from Phil Cuttance, is unique, and numbered on the base.

TInker, Tailor...

Claire is such a talented lady, the completely unique and fascinating objects she creates might give you a little clue to just how interesting she is - but without giving away all her secrets, tinker and tailor are just two strings on her talent bow. Tinker hails from Dunedin, a brand with a gothic and subversive soul, tied up in a giftable package. These objects would look at home both a Versace clad palace or your nana's house.
Available from Whiteroom Dunedin, or a stockist near you, or by direct from her felt store.

Virgin Mary Candle, NZ$36
Parakeet Candle, NZ$36
Two and three tiered cake stands made from pre-loved plates NZ$59 for 2 tier, NZ$79 for 3 tier
Set of 2 Leather sew on Patches, NZ$19, for elbows, knees, chest emblems, bags, gloves, wherever (I want some for my toddlers' knees!!!)

Father Rabbit Tray

I really need a new tray, and this bamboo one from Father Rabbit is very gift worth. It's NZ$57, great for weddings, 5th wedding anniversary (wood) house warming, or anyone who likes a good piece of kitchen to sitting design assistance.
Get it at Father Rabbit

SWOOP

Now with worldwide shipping, Swoop bags are just gorgeous, and set to make toy storage epicly easy - and clean up a breeze. I want ALOT of these, starting with bubble gum pink.

They are the brain child of Sarah Kirk who credits her grandmother for the design. Made in the USA, they are an affordable US$48 (looks like it would take US$12 to post to New Zealand)
